After more than 40 years as a dedicated teacher, there is a lot to be said of our respected School Principal, Ms. Bernadette Blenk. She is a progressive thinking, strong and loving woman, who firmly believes and delivers a different kind of personalized education.
Born in Massachusetts, Ms. Blenk received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and a Master’s Degree in Education and Administration. She founded and managed two Schools in the State of Massachusetts. She first came to the Dominican Republic drawn by a simple tourist offer, and ended up falling in love with our culture and settling permanently. She wrote primary curriculum program, served as Primary Coordinator, and taught transition class and first grade at Carol Morgan School.
In 1995 she founded The International School of Santo Domingo, an alternative educational opportunity where students could learn in English without losing sight of their own culture. The school site has changed three times, and is presently located on its own property, a spacious location in Arroyo Hondo.
Miss Blenk preaches an education that focuses on the child’s strengths. She teaches us the school´s parents, teachers and community to bring out the unique gifts that lie within each of our children, whom she calls: the unique leaders of tomorrow.
